Inside
A home that happens to have a menu.
Mama Mona sits on West Warren Avenue and keeps the pace of a house rather than a restaurant. Calm music, comfortable light, tables spaced for talking. Guests describe it the same way again and again — classy without being formal, busy without ever feeling rushed.
The kitchen is Lebanese and it cooks like one. Mezze arrive small and many: labneh, makdous, mouhammara, grape leaves rolled tight. Then the charcoal — kafta, tawook, lamb chops — and the rice dishes that guests keep singling out, kabsa and the stuffed chicken.
Portions are large on purpose. Come hungry, order more than you think you need, and expect to leave with a box. The bread never stops arriving.
